The Cinta Senese pig is the only native Tuscan pig to survive extinction. You will visit an organic farm to see these distinctive animals (characterized by their black hair and white band around the middle) and how and where they are now raised. The children will be fascinated by their habitat, which consists of huts made of leaves and branches. Follow this with lunch on the farm with the family (and for those interested, some tasting samples of the products).

While opportunities abound to explore your surroundings by car, foot and bike, an unforgettable way to amplify your experience is via horseback. An expert guide will lead you through the meandering Tuscan countryside, stopping as you please to rest or take in the natural beauty surrounding you. Some riding experience is required — tours will be customized to your level of ability. For families with younger children, supervised pony games can be arranged.

Embark on a private hunt for the valuable and elusive tuber, the truffle. You will join a local farmer and his truffle-sniffing dog in an adventure that is fun for all ages. Learn the closely guarded secrets of where and how truffles hide and grow. Then learn all about these valued tubers with a private tasting and/or cooking class customized to your group.
